The mission of the Friends of Colt Creek State Park is to enhance the use and enjoyment of the Park for the people of Florida and its visitors.
Just imagine....it's a beautiful day to hit the Colt Creek State Park trails. After 3 or 4 hours on the trail, it's always great to be able to sit down and enjoy a meal and conversation--unless you're in the primitive equestrian campground or South parking area, where there are only 2 or 3 picnic tables scattered among 40 campsites and no good place for a group to gather.
Horse people are heavy park users; not only do they enjoy the trails, but the primitive equestrian campground has become one of their favorites in Central Florida. They have contributed thousands of dollars in labor and funds, blazing and maintaining trails, clearing the campground of limbs and fallen logs, helping in the butterfly garden, and working to install water lines to the equestrian campground. They have sponsored events, one of which--the 2019 Veterans Day Mounted Scavenger Hunt--won the Florida State Parks "Outstanding Special Event."
Your help is needed! The Friends of Colt Creek are working to build a picnic pavilion in the equestrian campground in gratitude for our equestrian partners. it is clear that a pavilion is needed and would be heavily used by the many local clubs that enjoy the park. Especially after the financial blows the Florida State Park system has suffered in recent years (hurricanes and COVID-19), Colt Creek itself will not be able to fund the project.
We are asking for YOUR financial help to make our dream come true.
